Maria Manning has been promoted to regional associate
Maria Manning has been promoted by the North Carolina Community Foundation (NCCF) to regional associate to support Alleghany, Avery and Wilkes counties, according to Elizabeth C. Fentress, NCCF president.
Manning’s responsibilities include working with individuals and agencies to establish permanent endowment funds to meet their charitable giving objectives. She provides staff support to affiliate community foundation boards in Alleghany, Avery and Wilkes counties and works out of the Central and Western Piedmont Region office in Hickory.
Manning joined the NCCF part-time in November of 2000, moving to full time a year later as affiliate assistant for the Central and Western Piedmont Region. She has experience in public relations, editing and writing and formerly served as director of public relations at Lenoir-Rhyne College in Hickory. She earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism, specializing in public relations, from Marshall University in her hometown of Huntington, W.Va. She serves as board president for the Rape Crisis Center of Catawba County.
The NCCF is a statewide community development organization created to build capacity through philanthropy. The NCCF administers more than $100 million in assets that sustain nearly 1,000 endowment funds established to provide long-term support of a broad range of charitable needs, nonprofit organizations and scholarships in more than 60 counties across the state, with an emphasis on underserved areas. The NCCF operates through a unique network of six regions designed to provide local resource allocation and community assistance.
