The Women Givers of Northeast North Carolina was established in December 2006 and has a goal of recruiting 50 members by the end of 2007. Members contribute a minimum of $300 annually, invested as follows: a.) $200 is combined with other members’ contributions to form the “grant pool,” which will be distributed to nonprofit organizations chosen by members of the Women Givers of Northeast NC after a study of community issues, b.) $25 is allocated to building the permanent endowment of the Women Givers of Northeast North Carolina and $25 to the NCCF Statewide Women’s Fund, and c.) $50 funds administrative expenses. Members can make higher annual donations at the $1,000 level and can allocate the proportion to be distributed and/or saved in the group’s endowment fund.

Orientation for grants committee members will be held in February of each year. The grants committee members will research organizations that align with the focus areas identified by the members of the group and will seek inquiries. The committee will then send out Requests for Proposals. They will conduct site visits for the semi-finalists and then provide the entire membership with a detailed description of the organizations chosen as finalists. Each member will have one vote as to which organization(s) is awarded a grant.
