Scholarship opportunities through the NCCF are rich and diverse. We do not have a general scholarship fund; rather, all scholarship awards are made by specific funds with criteria established by their particular donors.
The NCCF is privileged to award hundreds of scholarships each year, thanks to many generous donors across our state.

A. G. and Connie Glenn Scholarship Fund
This Scholarship Endowment shall be devoted to the support of providing scholarships to a graduating senior of Smithfield Selma High School, who plans to attend a 4-year college in or outside of North Carolina. Funds from the Scholarship Endowment may be used to pay tuition, fees and books.

Alpha Beta Chapter Scholarship Fund
Criteria: Female graduate from Johnston County Schools planning to major in education and be a full-time student with a minimum of 12 hours with a minimum GPA of 2.5. Applicants must reside in Johnston County and have attended a Johnston County Schools high school for at least 2 years.

Donald Patrick Darden Scholarship Endowment (Statewide)
Criteria: Children or grandchildren of members of the North Carolina Highway Patrol attending East Carolina University. **PLEASE NOTE: Applicants should provide the name of the NCHP member to whom they are related as well as their relationship to that person along with their application.**

Ernestine J. Williams Scholarship Endowment Fund
Criteria: Students graduating from public high schools in Johnston County, continuing their studies at an accredited college, university, community college, or technical school. Award decisions are based on academic performance and potential and on financial need. (Recipients will receive $1,500.00 per year of study if attending a two-year institution and $3,000.00 per year if attending a four-year institution; this award is renewable for a maximum of four years. Recipients must submit a current transcript annually to renew; to be eligible for renewal, recipients must maintain a full course load and remain in good standing as defined by their school. Recipients who transfer to a four-year institution after study at a two-year institution will remain eligible for funding after transfer.)

H. Lentis and Maude Penny Sorrell Scholarship Endowment (Statewide)
Criteria: A student enrolled in the Brody School of Medicine who is doing a fellowship in pulmonary medicine or another closely related field. First preference is given to students from Harnett or Johnston County.

I. Beverly Lake Scholarship Endowment (Statewide)
Criteria: North Carolina high school graduates who are eligible for membership in the Sons of Confederate Veterans or the United Daughters of the Confederacy and pursuing a degree at an institution of higher learning.

Johnston County Arts Council Endowment
Criteria: Resident of Johnston County with an interest in furthering their education in the field of arts at Johnston Community College.

NC Alpha Delta Kappa Student Achievement Scholarship (Statewide)
Criteria: Graduating seniors of a North Carolina high school pursuing a degree at a school of higher learning. Applicants must have a weighted GPA of 2.5 to 3.5 and an SAT score (including Math, Verbal, and Writing) in the range of 1344-1560 OR an ACT composite score between 20 and 24. Applicants are also judged based on their service to school, community, and church, as well as their integrity and leadership potential.

Norah Morris Memorial Scholarship Endowment (Statewide)
Criteria: An individual entering college or continuing college education who has participated in equestrian activity.

Peter S. Slomianyj Scholarship Fund (Statewide)
Criteria: Subway employees or children of Subway employees who have worked at least 1,000 hours over the last 12 months. Students must have a 2.0 GPA in high school or a 2.5 GPA in college.

Robert E. Barnhill, Sr. Scholarship Fund (Statewide)
Criteria: High-school graduate who is a North Carolina resident and is attending a college or university. Considered are leadership potential, community involvement, physical vigor, academic achievement and financial need. Special consideration is given to Edgecombe County residents and employees/children of employees of Barnhill Contracting Company.
