Henderson is Volunteer of the Month

The Carteret Community Foundation has chosen Mr. Roy Henderson Volunteer of the Month.

“Roy Henderson has been with us since the beginning of Hope Mission. His faithfulness and dependability at the age of 85 make him a remarkable man”

The above is a quote from June McLendon, Co-Director of Hope Mission. Ms. McLendon nominated Mr. Henderson because of his dedication to helping people by serving meals and just being there if someone needs to talk. She goes on to say of Mr. Henderson, “He is a humble, caring man who shares his faith with others and lends support and encouragement.”

To award his hours of work, Mr. Henderson received a $50 gift certificate for dinner for two at Clawson’s Restaurant, located in Beaufort. The Hope Mission received a $100 check from Carteret Community Foundation to thank them for bringing such a loyal, hard working volunteer to our attention.

Nominations are accepted from any nonprofit organization in Carteret County. Nomination forms may be downloaded at www.carteretfoundation.org or you may obtain a hard copy by mail by calling and requesting one from Tia Douglass at 729-5491. The monthly deadline is the 15th.

Founded in 1984, the Carteret Community Foundation, an Affiliate of North Carolina Community Foundation, is a charitable foundation created by and for the people of Carteret County.
