Bertie-Hertford Community Foundation

List of Funds

The Bertie-Hertford Community Foundation was established to serve the needs of local nonprofit organizations, donors and charitable causes. The Bertie-Hertford Community Foundation is an affiliate of the North Carolina Community Foundation.

Century Post Office Museum Endowment
This fund provides ongoing support for the Century Post Office Museum.
 
Nancy Hall Sawyer Copeland Endowment
The purpose of this fund is to provide support to the Murfree-Smith Law Office property administered by the Murfreesboro Historical Association.
 
Katy Evans Johnson & Gene Hines Johnson Charitable Endowment

This donor-advised fund supports general charitable causes.
 
Ridgecroft School Endowment
This fund provides for the ongoing support of Ridgecroft School in Hertford County, NC.
 
Earl U. Capps, Jr. Scholarship Endowment
This fund provides scholarships to graduating seniors from Ridgecroft School.
 
Charles H. Jenkins Memorial Fund for Historic Hope Foundation
This fund provides for the ongoing maintenance of the mansion and grounds of the Historic Hope Mansion through the Historic Hope Foundation, Inc.
 
Murfreesboro Historical Association Endowment

This fund provides ongoing support for the Murfreesboro Historical Association.
 
Wayland L. Jenkins, Jr., Unrestricted Endowment
This donor-advised fund supports general charitable causes.
 
Gertrude Johnson Revelle Endowment
This fund was established to provide support for the Wheeler House, managed by Murfreesboro Historical Association.
 
James Tillery Johnson Family Charitable Endowment

This fund was established by the family to benefit charitable interests in Bertie, Hertford and Northampton Counties.
 
James Tillery Johnson Ridgecroft School Endowment

This fund was created by the family to support educational and general purposes of the Ridgecroft School in Ahoskie.
  
Bertie-Hertford Community Foundation Unrestricted Endowment
The Bertie-Hertford Community Foundation Unrestricted Endowment enables the Bertie- Hertford Community Foundation to respond to changing community needs and to enhance the quality of community life within the county. Donors allow flexibility in how these funds are to be used, leaving the Bertie-Hertford Board of Directors to award grants each year to local nonprofit organizations.
 
Women's Fund of Bertie-Hertford Gift Fund
This fund is to improve the lives of women and children as recommended by the Women's Fund of Bertie-Hertford.
 
M. C. Ashe Family Scholarship Endowment
The purpose of this fund is to provide scholarships for graduating seniors from public high schools in Northampton and Hertford counties.

Shirley Stuart Pierce Ridgecroft School Endowment
This fund provides ongoing support for Ridgecroft School in Hertford, NC.
 
William K. Woltz and Elizabeth Winborne Woltz Endowment
The purpose of this fund is to support the Murfreesboro Historical Association, Inc. for the specific purpose of maintaining, repairing and restoring the Winborne and Winborne Law Office.
 
Winton, North Carolina Jordan Family Heritage Fund

This fund provides for the preservation and maintenance of the more than a century old Jordan Cemetery which is uniquely located in the midst of downtown Winton, North Carolina, Hertford County's oldest town.  It is recognized that in the cemetery are the graves of pioneer Eastern North Carolina families, including members of a founding family of Hertford County which is recognized by a beautiful public monument located within the cemetery, all of which will serve to beautify the public space where hundreds of North Carolinians conduct business each week as well as to allow Hertford County citizens to make a visual connection with their heritage.
 
Roy D. Flood Sr. MD Cardio-Pulmonary Memorial Endowment

This endowment provides assistance for the cardiopulmonary care and treatment of patients with financial need at the Viquest Wellness Center in Hertford County.
 
Anna Spiers Lawrence Endowment

This fund supports the Buck Horn Baptist Church Cemetery in Como, North Carolina.
 
Ahoskie Public Library Endowment
This fund supports the Ahoskie Public Library.
 
Chowan College Endowment Sponsored by Southern Bank and Trust Company
This designated endowment was established by Southern Bank and Trust to provide general support for Chowan College
 
James E. and Mary Z. Bryan Foundation Endowment for Chowan College

This fund provides grants to Chowan College's scholarship funds.
 
The Bertie-Hertford Women's Fund Endowment
The Bertie-Hertford Women's Fund Endowment is devoted to the support of charitable uses benefiting women and children in the Bertie-Hertford areas of North Carolina.
 
Old Murfreesboro High School, Inc. Endowment

This fund provides ongoing support for the Brady C. Jeffcoat Museum.
 
Nelda Vaughn Lassiter Education Fund
This fund provides financial awards to Hertford County teachers or teachers aids to assist them with costs for achieving teacher certifications or such other academic certification.
 
Margaret Futrell DeLoatch Endowment

The purpose of this fund is to support the maintenance, repairs and upkeep of the Roberts-Vaughan House and property administered by the Murfreesboro Historical Association, Inc.
 
Clyde Braxton Britt Endowment
This fund provides support to Hertford Academy.
 
Ina Mitchell Jordan Endowment
The endowment supports an annual local performance by the North Carolina Symphony.

Fenton Blount & Doris Mewborn Ferguson Endowment
The purpose of this fund is to support the maintenance, repairs and upkeep of the Rea Museum and property as administered by the Murfreesboro Historical Association, Inc.
 
Elwood Parker Bennett Endowment

This fund provides for the ongoing support of the Murfreesboro Historical Association with its use restricted to maintenance, repair, and upkeep of the Roberts-Vaughan House and property.
