North Carolina Community Foundation Establishes New Affiliate in Chowan County to Support Local Nonprofits
The board of directors of the North Carolina Community Foundation (NCCF) announces the establishment of an affiliate organization in Chowan County, according to C. Ronald Scheeler, chairman of the board.
The Chowan Community Funds was recently established as an affiliate to help serve the charitable needs of Chowan County. An incorporating board of directors has been named to help guide the new affiliate. Serving are: Lynn Chesson, Jean DeMajewski, Linda Lane, Brenda Powers, Ann Rosenblatt, Robin Sams and Beth Taylor.
One of the new board’s responsibilities is to help distribute funds from the already established Ann L. Sams Endowment. A grants program will be implemented this spring, utilizing the application process established by the NCCF. The application will be posted in March on the NCCF’s website at nccommunityfoundation.org.
In addition, the NCCF administers an endowed fund to benefit the Northeast Region office of Preservation North Carolina, also located in Edenton, which will now be listed with the CCF.
Tax-deductible contributions can be made by any organization or individual towards the creation of an endowed fund or to help grow the assets of an existing fund, which will be managed and allocated for the benefit of Chowan County. Contributions should be made payable to the Chowan Community Funds and mailed to North Carolina Community Foundation, Landmark Center, 4601 Six Forks Road, Suite 524, Raleigh, NC 27609.
