  • Alleghany Connections: $425 for volunteer expenses
  • Alleghany Public Library: $425 for the summer reading program

“The Alleghany Foundation loves being able to make grants to deserving nonprofits but would not be able to provide these without the support of the civic-minded and generous people in the county,” says McMillan. “So, a big thank you to all who have made donations to our ‘From Alleghany, To Alleghany’ fund.” She adds: “I would also like to thank all of the applicants as well as the grants committee, chaired by Scott Moncrief, who worked so diligently on processing the applications. We have a great Board and hope the citizens will continue to support the Alleghany County Community Foundation.”

The Opportunity Fund was established to help support local charitable needs through annual grants. Any organization or individual who wishes to increase the principal of the Alleghany Opportunity Fund can make tax-deductible contributions, which should be made payable to the Alleghany Opportunity Fund and mailed to Alleghany County Community Foundation, PO Box 1702 Sparta, NC 28675.
