List of Funds

The Mount Airy Community Foundation was established to serve the needs of local nonprofit organizations, donors and charitable causes. The Mount Airy Community Foundation is an affiliate of the North Carolina Community Foundation.

Sandy Beam Scholarship Fund
The Sandy Beam Scholarship Fund gives annual scholarships to qualified arts students in Surry County. The Surry Arts Council Scholarship Committee determines the recipient of this scholarship.
 
Diane Holcomb Endowment
The purpose of this fund is to support musical theater productions by the Surry Arts Council.
 
Susan P. Ashby Endowment
In honor of one of Mount Airy's greatest citizens, the Susan P. Ashby Endowment was established to support the Mount Airy Restoration Foundation. Proceeds from the fund will be used for preservation, restoration, renovation and maintenance of the William Alfred Moore House.
 
Philip Reeves Vaughn Sr. Memorial Scholarship
This fund provides scholarships for graduating seniors of Mount Airy High School.
 
Barbara & Emmett Forrest Endowment
This fund provides ongoing support for the annual Mayberry Days Festival sponsored by Surry Arts Council.
 
Kester Sink Birthday Endowment
The purpose of this fund is to support Surry Arts Council's summer programs and give all Surry County children the chance to attend.
 
Surry Orthopaedic Endowment
The purpose of this fund is to support charitable causes of Surry County as defined by staff and physicians of Tri-County Orthopaedic & Sports Medicine.
 
Cindi & Andy Griffith Endowment
The purpose of this fund is to support the offering of free children's programs through the Surry Arts Council.
 
Mount Airy Unrestricted Endowment
The Mount Airy Unrestricted Endowment Fund enables the Mount Airy Community Foundation to respond to changing community needs and to enhance the quality of community life within the county. Donors allow flexibility in how these funds are to be used, leaving the Mount Airy Board of Directors to award grants each year to local nonprofit organizations.
 
Mount Airy Public Library Endowment
The Mount Airy Public Library Endowment is devoted to supporting the library with the purchasing of books, program materials, supplies and related equipment, as well as program assistance such as fees and expenses.
 
The PTA Hollingsworth Scholarship Fund
The PTA Hollingsworth Scholarship Fund provides scholarships for eligible graduating seniors at Mount Airy High School.
 
Surry Arts Council Endowment
The Surry Arts Council Endowment, established in 1996, is a designated endowment that will forever benefit the Surry Arts Council. Proceeds from this endowment are annually distributed to support general operations and needs of the Arts Council.
 
Robert E. Chilton Scholarship Fund
The purpose of this fund is to provide scholarships to graduating seniors from Mount Airy High School.
 
Bruce Lowe Endowment
This donor-advised fund supports general charitable purposes.
 
Mildred Wolfe Robertson Scholarship Fund
Mildred Wolfe Robertson Scholarship Fund was established in memory of one of North Carolina's greatest volunteers.This fund will grant scholarships each spring based on recommendations from the Surry Arts Council Scholarship Committee.
 
Jonathan Jackson Cancer Survivors Scholarship
The Jonathan Jackson Cancer Survivors Scholarship benefits individuals in North Carolina who have or have had cancer and wish to further their education at an institution of higher learning. First priority is given to Surry County residents.
 
Richard T. Howerton, Jr. Memorial Fund
The Richard T. Howerton, Jr., Memorial Endowment provides support for the Surry Arts Council annual holiday chorale performance.
