Yadkin County Community Foundation

List of Funds

The Yadkin County Community Foundation was established to serve the needs of local nonprofit organizations, donors and charitable causes. The Yadkin County Community Foundation is an affiliate of the North Carolina Community Foundation.

Ethel & Bobby Hobson Family Endowment
This donor-advised fund benefits general charitable purposes in Yadkin County.
 
Tim Brandon Memorial Scholarship Endowment
Named in memory of a beloved child, the Tim Brandon Memorial Scholarship Endowment supports students graduating from Forbush High School in East Bend, N.C., wishing to pursue a higher education.
 
Marion G. Welborn & Jewell W. Welborn Endowment

This fund provides for the ongoing support of Deep Creek Church and St. Paul United Methodist Church, both located in Yadkin County.
 
H. Frank & Susan S. Steelman Endowment

The H. Frank and Susan S. Steelman Endowment supports the Deep Creek Friends Church in Yadkinville with regard to children and youth budgetary needs and programs, as well as the minister's and youth director's salaries, and the N.C. Yearly Meeting of Friends Disaster Service, Greensboro, N.C.
 
Marion G. Welborn & Jewell W. Welborn Scholarship Endowment

This fund provides scholarships for high school graduates residing in Yadkin County who attend Surry
Community College.
 
Brandon Family Memorial Fund

The purpose of this fund is to provide for the general support of the First Baptist Church of Yadkinville.
 
Yadkin County Legacy Fund
The Yadkin County Legacy Fund enables the Yadkin County Community Foundation to respond to changing community needs and to enhance the quality of community life within the county. Donors allow  flexibility in how these funds are to be used, leaving the Yadkin County Board of Directors to award grants each year to local nonprofit organizations.
 
Yadkin Christian Ministries Endowment

The purpose of this fund is to support the charitable efforts of member churches from in and around Yadkin county.
 
Ted C. Williams Memorial Endowment

This fund supports general charitable, educational, religious and scientific purposes in Yadkin County.
 
George Shugart Family Endowment
This donor-advised fund benefits general charitable purposes in Yadkin County.
 
Hubert Lewis Phillips and Pearl Shermer Phillips Scholarship Fund
This fund provides scholarships for residents of Yadkin County who are studying nursing.
 
Shirley A. Gough Memorial Endowment
Eligible graduating seniors from Starmount High School can benefit from the Shirley A. Gough Memorial Endowment by direct scholarships to an institution of higher learning. This fund can also make grants to local nonprofit organizations at the discretion of the Gough Family.
 
Pauline "Polly" Hudspeth Wood & Dr. William L Wood Sr. Endowment
Dr. William Wood was one of the forefathers who began the Yadkin County Trust in 1985 to support worthy causes in Yadkin County. After years of inactivity, the board of directors decided to transfer the assets of the Trust to the Yadkin County Community Foundation. Upon the transfer of the assets, the board of the Yadkin County Trust decided to re-name the fund in honor of Dr. Wood. Proceeds from the Dr. William L. Wood, Sr. Memorial Endowment will provide annual grants to local nonprofit organizations in Yadkin County.
 
R. P. Buchanan Scholarship Endowment

The R.P. Buchanan Scholarship Endowment benefits eligible graduating seniors from Forbush High School who have been accepted at a school of higher learning.
 
Nicholas A. Martin Memorial Scholarship

Established in memory of Nick Martin, this endowment awards scholarships to graduating minority seniors from Starmount High School who are active in sports, music, and their church.
