The Columbus County Community Foundation was established to serve the needs of local nonprofit organizations, donors and charitable causes. The Columbus County Community Foundation is an affiliate of the North Carolina Community Foundation.

Riegelwood Mill Charitable Endowment
This donor advised fund supports general charitable purposes.
Columbus County Unrestricted Fund
The Columbus County Unrestricted Endowment Fund enables the Columbus County Community
Foundation to respond to changing community needs and to enhance the quality of community life
within the county. Donors allow flexibility in how these funds are to be used, leaving the Columbus
County Board of Directors to award grants each year to local nonprofit organizations.
Southeastern Community College Foundation Endowment
This fund provides for the support of the Southeastern Community College Foundation.
Dempsey B. Herring Memorial Scholarship Endowment
The purpose of this fund is to provide scholarships to students of Whiteville High School and other
Columbus County high schools. This scholarship fund is established in memory of former Columbus
County Manager Dempsey Herring.
Hobbs Family Scholarship Endowment
This fund provides scholarships to high school graduates from Columbus and Brunswick Counties who
wish to attend an institution of higher learning, with initial preference given to students from Columbus
County. Priority will be given to students demonstrating financial need. Students must also
demonstrate sound academic performance and a record of service to the community.
