Alex B. and Mary Porter Owen Endowment
This fund provides ongoing support for the Martins Creek Elementary School and the John C.
Campbell Folk School.
Martha Axley Palmer Endowment for the Nantahala Regional Library System
Established in honor of retired librarian Martha A. Palmer, this fund provides for the preservation and
enhancement of libraries in Clay, Cherokee, and Graham counties.
Hermann K. Brauer Memorial Scholarship Fund
In addition to supporting research in North Carolina by the American Cancer Society, this fund
provides a scholarship for a student from Andrews, NC who has attended a Cherokee County High
School and will attend a four year accredited college or university at the undergraduate or
professional/graduate level. Students must be preparing for a professional career in medicine, dentistry,
nursing, engineering or other science, teaching or law. If a student from Andrews does not qualify,
preference should be given to Cherokee County students and then to students form the seven
westernmost counties of NC.
James Albert Wood and Lee "Teddy" Nichols Award Scholarship Endowment
Established in honor of these two noted Cherokee County leaders, this fund offers scholarships to high
school graduates in Andrews, NC.
Wells Family Scholarship Endowment
This endowment provides scholarships to high school graduates from Cherokee County.
John C. Campbell Folk School Fund
The fund supports the school with designated yearly distributions.
Dr. Al Swan Memorial Endowment
This donor-advised fund supports general charitable purposes.
Cherokee County Youth Endowment
The purpose of this fund is to support youth-related causes in Cherokee County.
Cherokee County Unrestricted Endowment Fund
The Cherokee County Unrestricted Endowment Fund enables the Cherokee County Community
Foundation to respond to changing community needs and to enhance the quality of community life
within the county. Donors allow flexibility in how these funds are to be used, leaving the Cherokee
County Board of Directors to award grants each year to local nonprofit organizations. |
