The board of advisors of the Alleghany County Community Foundation announces 2013 grant awards from the Alleghany Opportunity Fund, ACCF’s community grantmaking fund.
In its 11th year of grant making, ACCF awarded three grants totaling $3,289 through a competitive selection process This year’s nonprofit recipients include:
• $600 to Alleghany Connections Inc. for its In-School Tutoring program
• $1,000 to Appalachian Seniors Programs for the Foster Grandparent and Senior Companion programs in Alleghany County
• $1,000 to the Second Harvest Food Bank of Northwest NC too support its Rural Delivery program in partnership with the Solid Rock Food Closet
• $689 to Prevent Blindness NC for its Star Pupils program in Alleghany County
The Alleghany County Community Foundation is an affiliate of the North Carolina Community Foundation. Since 2003, ACCF has made more than 30 grants totaling nearly $25,000 through the Alleghany Opportunity Fund.
