Sue LeLievre bids farewell, says hello to adventure

by Jennifer Tolle Whiteside

After 15 years with the Foundation, I am stepping down as western regional director at the end of this month. My husband and I have downsized to a 40’ RV and plan to travel to all the places we’ve dreamed about over the years. We realize what a luxury it is to be doing this at our age.  I’m looking forward to seeing all the places we’ve never been, but I’m equally as excited to meet new people and to have the opportunity to see all the good work being done across the country.  We plan to volunteer as much as possible to get to know the communities we visit. I’ll be sure to share any innovative ideas we come across with the NCCF staff.

To say it is a hard to leave is an understatement. I have been lucky enough to meet some truly inspiring individuals. They spend every day trying to make the lives of those around them better.   My local boards are filled with the best those counties have to offer. They are engaged, eager to assist and willing to put forth the effort required to make things happen. I will miss them all. The local nonprofit leaders have been an inspiration to me, as I’ve witnessed all they do to keep their doors open to assist local residents. Through them, thousands have been given hope for a better tomorrow.

I could not have asked for a better work family here at the NCCF. We have a great staff that truly cares for one another. I’ve made lifelong friends and view my time here as the best part of my career. There have been a lot of changes in the Foundation during my tenure, but the thing that remains constant is the determination of the staff to provide support where it is needed most. I know the communities throughout North Carolina are stronger because of this commitment.

Keep this in mind, “Don’t be afraid of change, because it is leading you to a new beginning.” (Joyce Meyers)
