The board of of the Brunswick County Community Foundation announces 2014 awards from its community grantmaking fund, according to Karen Anderson, board president.  This year’s nonprofit recipients and projects include:

Communities in Schools of Brunswick County - Action for Success
Brunswick Housing Opportunities - Home Preservation Team
Matthews Ministry - Backpack Program
Furever Friends - Canine Vaccines
Brunswick Family Assistance

“This year we received 21 applications requesting more than $20,000,” said Anderson. “Our board members had to make some hard choices, and they are committed to raising more money for the Brunswick County Unrestricted Endowment so we can assist more local nonprofits with their projects.”

“All the money we raise for the endowment stays right here in Brunswick County, so I hope folks will consider making a tax-deductible donation to the Brunswick County Unrestricted Endowment,” said Anderson.

The Brunswick County Community Foundation is an affiliate of the North Carolina Community Foundation, and it provides endowment services to a number of funds.  Local board members in addition to Anderson are; Mark Bachara, Currie Batchelor, Cindy Cheatham, Mike Gildea, Barb Patten and Julie Wolfe.
