The Brunswick County Community Foundation awarded grants from the Brunswick County Unrestricted Endowment Fund and the U.S. Open King Mackerel Tournament Endowment Fund to five local nonprofits.
“This year the Foundation received 19 applications requesting more than $30,000,” said Karen Anderson, president of the Brunswick County Community Foundation board. “There were so many worthwhile projects, and we tried to select those projects that support the educational and health needs of Brunswick County residents.
The Foundation awarded more than $2,600 to the following initiatives:
- Matthew’s Ministry – General Operating Support for children’s food program
- Communities in Schools of Brunswick County – “Action for Success” initiative
- Coastal Horizons Center – Brunswick – Case Management support
- American Red Cross – Cape Fear Region Chapter – Disaster Relief to Brunswick County Residents
- North Carolina Coastal Land Trust – Brunswick Family Fun Day
“We continue to build the Brunswick County Unrestricted Endowment fund in order to support more local nonprofits through the annual, competitive grant application process. Our board members carefully review all the applications, and we also visit the organizations after we award the grants to see the money in action,” said Anderson.
“All the money we raise for the endowment stays right here in Brunswick County, so I hope folks will consider making a tax-deductible donation to the Brunswick County Unrestricted Endowment,” she said.
