The Carteret Community Foundation announces the 2014 scholarship recipients for the upcoming 2014-2015 academic school year. The Foundation administers a number of scholarship endowments that benefit local students.

“These young people represent some of the best and brightest minds in Carteret County,” said Pat Rauhauser, Carteret Community Foundation board president. “We hope that by supporting their education that they will come back to our county and make it an even better place to live.”

“We are pleased that the Carteret Community Foundation can support our local donors who have made these scholarships possible.  Their generosity will assist students from kindergarten through college to receive the good educations they will need to be successful.”

The following students will be awarded scholarships:

  • Karlie H. Maxwell, West Carteret High School – UNC Wilmington, Carteret County Retired School Personnel Scholarship
  • Kayla Lynn Josey, West Carteret High School – East Carolina University, Carteret County Retired School Personnel Scholarship
  • Leah K. Plisko ,West Carteret High SchoolQueens University of Charlotte, Carteret County Retired School Personnel Scholarship, (renewal)
  • Madeline M. Heverly ,Croatan High SchoolMeredith College ,Carteret County Retired School Personnel Scholarship, (renewal)
  • Kelsea K. Munyan,  East Carteret High School - UNC Greensboro - Carteret County Retired School Personnel Scholarship, (renewal)
  • Sarah M. Head, East Carteret High School -Liberty University – Carteret County Retired School Personnel Scholarship, (renewal)

The CCRSP Scholarships provide $2,000 per year for each student. Funding is sent directly to the respective school.

Additional 2014 Scholarship recipients include:

  • Henry M. Gregory, West Carteret High School – NC State University – V.J. “Puck” & Pearl O’Neal Scholarship Fund
  • Caleb D. Fulp, Croatan High School- Appalachian State University – Carteret County Association of Homebuilders Murdoch Scholarship
  • Demetric A. Davis, East Carteret  - UNC Charlotte – Renewals for the Carteret County Association of Homebuilders Murdoch Scholarship, and the Joseph H. Tallman Scholarships in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering.
  • Nicklas Zimarino Croatan High School – East Carolina University –Joseph H. Tallman Scholarships in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering.

The Carteret Community Foundation was established in 1984 and it is an affiliate of the North Carolina Community Foundation. The Carteret Community Foundation provides grants to local nonprofits, scholarships to county students and support to professional advisors who can help individuals, families and nonprofit agencies establish endowments.
