The Carteret Community Foundation is now accepting team registrations for its 27th annual “Golfing for Grants” charity tournament on Thursday, April 25th, at the Morehead City Country Club.

“We are excited about hosting a spring tournament this year,” said Pat Rauhauser, Carteret Community Foundation board president.  “This is our biggest fundraiser for the year, and the Foundation uses the proceeds to provide grants to local nonprofit organizations.”

“Last year the Foundation awarded more than $23,000 to10 nonprofit organizations that serve the people of Carteret County.  The Foundation board strives to support a wide range of projects.  In 2012, we supported projects ranging from a renovation of Purvis Chapel, an educational video at the Beaufort Historical Association and Blackbeard’s Queen Anne’s Revenge Educational Posters at the NC Maritime Museum, renovation of batting cages and fields in Swinson Park and support of the Station Club Enterprise, and more.

“Parker Buick GMC will once again provide a new car as a hole-in-one prize,” said Andy Harris, Treasurer of the Carteret Community Foundation and chair of the golf tournament committee.  “We are very pleased to be returning to the Morehead City Country Club for this our 27th year of the tournament.  It helps us raise much needed funds for local charities in our community along with providing a great excuse to get outdoors.  For the golfers, we will be awarding prizes for the best scores, most accurate drive, longest drive, closest to the pin, and special prizes for those elusive Holes-In-One, so come on out”
