The NCCF is the single statewide community foundation in North Carolina and was created 21 years ago to build capacity through philanthropy. The NCCF sustains nearly 1,000 endowment funds established to provide long-term support of a broad range of community needs, nonprofit organizations and scholarships. The NCCF partners with 59 affiliate foundations to provide local resource allocation and community assistance in 65 counties across the state, with an emphasis on rural and underserved areas.

Narron is new chair of NC Community Foundation’s statewide board

James W. Narron has been elected chairman of the statewide board of the North Carolina Community Foundation (NCCF), according to Jennifer Tolle Whiteside, CEO and president of the NCCF.

As chairman, Narron leads the Foundation’s board in the areas of funds development, grant-making and strategic planning to ensure that the organization meets community needs across North Carolina. Board members also serve as the Foundation’s ambassadors throughout the state.

Tolle Whiteside said that the Foundation would benefit from Narron’s professional stature as a leading estate attorney and thorough knowledge of North Carolina’s communities. “I know I speak for the entire board and staff when I say we are very gratified that Mr. Narron has agreed to lead the NCCF board,” she said. Margie Pipkin was chosen to win a $100 donation to the NCCF fund of her choice in a random drawing of all survey respondents who returned their questionnaires by the Feb. 27 deadline. Pipkin will donate her winnings to the Raleigh Fine Arts Society Endowment.

NCCF wins Charity Navigator’s highest ranking – again!
Charity NavigatorThe NCCF has received Charity Navigator’s highest rating for sound fiscal management for the second consecutive year. The four-star rating is based on operational quality, financial efficiency and integrity, accountability and growth of programs and services.

“This recognition comes at a time when donors are taking an especially close look at accountability, transparency and quantifiable results,” said NCCF CEO and President Jennifer Tolle Whiteside. “We appreciate the concerted efforts of our staff and statewide and affiliate boards and volunteers who have allowed us to receive this honor again.”

Only 18 percent of the nonprofits evaluated by Charity Navigator have received at least two consecutive four-star rankings. For more information on our evaluation, click here
