The New Hanover County Community Foundation board welcomed former board members who attended the grant reception on August 16 in Wilmington.  The New Hanover County Community Foundation was established in 1987 as the Cape Fear Community Foundation.

Since its inception, the Foundation and its fundholders have made more than $14 million in grants primarily to nonprofit organization in New Hanover County.  In 2009, the Foundation and more than 80 component funds became an affiliate of the North Carolina Community Foundation, the single statewide community foundation serving North Carolina.

This year, in celebration of the Foundation's 25th anniversary, the board awarded $25,000 in grants to 16 local nonprofit organizations selected through a competitive grant process.
