The YES team from KIPP Pride will not only be attending the NC Youth Giving Summit in Raleigh this Saturday, November 13th... they will be presenting one of the workshops.
The Youth Of Extraordinary Spririt (YES) team won an opportunity to present their workshop "Don't be the Grinch" at this year's gathering of over 200 youth philanthropists from across the state.  The day long Summit will be held at the Crabtree Marriot in Raleigh.  This year's theme is "Voices of Giving" and will feature inspirational spoken word poetry and vocal performance artists.  It's not only a day of fun, the students are working.  The various youth groups use this time to attend workshops based around philanthropy and take that knowledge back to their communities to carry out their very own grants process.  YES will be accepting proposals from teens in the Northampton/Halifax area that work through youth serving organizations in the community.  The teens have the chance receive money for projects that are teen based and teen driven.
YES will be competing for an additional $500.00 in grant money on Saturday with their anti-Grinch workshop that encourages other teens to be open to new ideas and work as a team.
This is the third year of the program and the partnership of KIPP, the North Carolina Community Foundation and Leading To Change, who are presenting the Summit.
