The board of advisors of the Northern Albemarle Community Foundation is currently accepting grant requests for projects funded from its community fund and the Judge Thomas Watts Fund and applications for scholarships.

The Women Givers of Northeast North Carolina, a program of Northern Albemarle Community Foundation, is also accepting grant request from area nonprofits that serve the needs of women and children in the same counties.

Grant funds are available for nonprofit organizations that serve general charitable needs in Camden, Gates, Pasquotank and Perquimans counties. Applications are available beginning March 11. Visit this page for information about applying. The deadline for submitting applications is noon April 12.

Scholarships are available for students meeting various eligibility requirements. Further information, many statewide scholarships, applications and deadlines are available on this page.

Scholarships accepting applications include:

  • The Bartlett Faison Scholarship Fund – Eligibility includes graduating high school seniors from Camden County enrolling full time at NC State University. Recipients will be chosen on the basis of academic performance with a 3.0 GPA or better, demonstrated athletic ability, good moral character and financial need.
  • The Elizabeth City Jaycees Scholarship – Eligibility includes graduating seniors from high schools in Camden, Chowan Gates, Pasquotank and Perquimans counties. Students must be enrolling full time in a four-year accredited program at a college or university, or full-time at COA or Mid Atlantic Bible College. Recipients should possess or demonstrate the following: GPA of 3.0 or better, financial need and service to others through volunteer efforts with school, church and/or community.
  • The Bertha Sawyer & Winfred B. Meiggs Sr. Family Scholarship – Eligibility includes graduating seniors from Camden County or elsewhere in Northeast North Carolina who possess a strong academic record, leadership abilities and demonstrated community participation and who are enrolling full-time in a two- or four-year college or university.

The application deadline for most scholarships is Friday, March 25.
