Montgomery County Community Foundation's recent grantee event is one of many kicking off throughout our 66-county service area.

Nonprofit organizations and school programs in the Montgomery County area received about $32,000 during a recent ceremony, which included grants from the affiliate's community fund as well as several donor-advised funds. Among the causes funded: Communities in Schools' Back Pack Program, forestry scholarships through Montgomery Community College, Montgomery County's Partnership for Children, Cooperative Extension initiatives to bring a livestock show back to the area, a 4-H safety program for middle school students, Red Cross programs -- and the list goes on.

MCCF President Russ Hollers correctly called this "our happiest time of year."
