RALEIGH -- Jennifer Tolle Whiteside, CEO of the North Carolina Community Foundation (NCCF), hosted a “Community Conversation” May 10 in Raeford with Hoke County constituents, including donors, fund-holders and members of the advisory board of the Hoke County Community Foundation.
The NCCF hosts a number of these informal events throughout the state so Tolle Whiteside and staff members can obtain feedback on the best ways for the Foundation to serve affiliates and ensure their effectiveness in their local communities.
Tolle Whiteside told the group that NCCF’s work and mission center on its partnerships with affiliates foundations across North Carolina. “Our affiliates’ work in their local communities greatly contributes to the overall strength of our state,” she said. “Their contributions are never more apparent or more important than they are right now during challenging economic times.”
The NCCF is the single statewide community foundation serving North Carolina and has made nearly $63 million in grants since its inception in 1988. With more than $130 million in assets, the NCCF sustains 1,000 endowments established to provide long-term support of a broad range of community needs, nonprofit organizations, institutions and scholarships. The NCCF partners with 60 affiliate foundations to provide local resource allocation and community assistance in 66 counties across the state. An important component of the NCCF’s mission is to ensure that rural philanthropy has a voice at local, regional and national levels.
