The Robeson County Community Foundation (RCCF) board recently honored its 2010 grant recipients at an awards ceremony and reception at BB&T in Lumberton.  Four area nonprofit organizations received checks from the community fund:

  • Lumberton Rescue & Emergency Medical Service – Intraosseous Infusion Project
  • Robeson County Health Department – Parents as Teachers Program
  • Senior Care Connections – the Wit and Wisdom Network
  • Robeson Health Care Corporation – Summer Youth Enrichment Camp

RCCF Board President Eric Dent thanked the nonprofit representatives for their great work on behalf of the citizens of Robeson County.  “Thank you for your service every day to the people of Robeson County,” he said.  “We had a large number of grant applications this year, and I commend the grants committee for their dedication.  The Foundation’s grant funds were quite limited this year, and committee members had to make some hard decisions among many worthy projects.”

Dent added that the affiliate appreciates nonprofits’ contributions to the area, which depends on local support. “The Robeson County Community Foundation’s board recognizes and appreciates the great work of all our local nonprofit organizations, and with the generous support of the community, we’ll be able to assist more local charities in the future,” he said. “The mission of the Robeson County Community Foundation is to raise money to meet local needs, and these grants are for the people of Robeson County.”

Community leaders established the Robeson County Community Foundation and its endowment fund in 2005. Any organization or individual can make a tax-deductible contribution to this fund, with proceeds distributed to area nonprofit organizations through a competitive grants process.  Contributions should be made payable to the Robeson County Unrestricted Endowment and mailed to the Robeson County Community Foundation, PO Box 952, Lumberton, NC 28359. Donors also can establish endowment funds to fulfill their own charitable objectives with an investment of at least $10,000.
