The next student in our Scholar Spotlight series is Kelsey Womack from Lillington. This is her second year as the recipient of the Dr. Henderson D. Mabe, Jr. Scholarship. She graduated from Cape Fear Christian Academy and now attends Campbell University where she is pursuing a career in nursing.
Kelsey’s passion for nursing began when she was 12 when family illnesses pressed her into helping to care for loved ones. “[This] made me realize that people like me are needed to show compassion and help the sick,” she said.
Kelsey plans to become a nurse practitioner and specialize in cardiology. She is proud to attend Campbell for its solid reputation and also because it is her mother’s alma mater. She is grateful for the Dr. Henderson D. Mabe, Jr. Scholarship, which is helping her reach her dream of helping others.
