The NCCF sponsors programs that focus on youth, women and communities of color. These Rocky Mount students learned about the power of collective giving.

The face of philanthropy

The face of philanthropy in North Carolina is changing. It reflects the shifting demographics, geographies and needs across the state we serve. It’s seen in the growing diversity of the people who make up our Foundation and its expanding, inclusive network of donors, volunteers, leaders and recipients. It begins earlier in life, with young people, even children, embracing the power of giving. And it mirrors the generations of givers as they transition and transfer their gifts and values.

Although the NCCF is most known for our work in the areas of establishing endowments and helping our fund-holders and donors make grants, the NCCF believes that the expanded definition of our stewardship should also celebrate and encourage this ever-changing face of philanthropy.

To help accomplish this goal, we’ve established programs to acknowledge and grow philanthropy among youth, women and communities of color.

The NCCF currently partners with seven Youth in Philanthropy initiatives across the state. Our Women Givers programs embrace scores of communities plus a statewide program. And our newest effort focusing on communities of color is just getting started, with groups beginning to gather in several regions to launch the conversation.
