The Art of Giving hosted members and guests at NCCF’s Raleigh offices in April. The membership recruitment event, entitled A Brighter Tomorrow: Advancing Opportunities for Triangle Women and Girls, featured a panel discussion on the status of women and girls in North Carolina.

We were so pleased to welcome Dr. Amie Hess, associate professor of sociology at Meridith College, who presented from the just-published report: The Status of Girls in North Carolina.

We were also delighted to hear from Harriett Southerland from the NC Council of Women and Youth Involvement. She spoke about some of the state programs addressing girls and youth. The Council is in the NC Department of Administration and is the state’s leading voice on key issues impacting women.
