The Brunswick County Community Foundation is a growing family of philanthropic funds, source of grants for local causes and partner for donors. BCCF was founded in 1997 and is led by a local volunteer advisory board that helps build community assets through the creation of permanent endowments, makes grants and leverages leadership – all for the benefit of Brunswick County

Apply for grants
The Brunswick County Community Foundation (BCCF) will accept grant applications from March 1, 2024, to NOON on April 2, 2024. Applications received after this deadline will not be accepted, including late submissions due to technology issues. Funds are available for qualified charitable organizations serving the local community.
Grants typically range from $500 to $1,000. In 2023, BCCF awarded $7,950 in grants through this competitive process. Learn more about past grant recipients.
Grants will be awarded from the community grantmaking fund.
How to apply
BCCF is an affiliate of the North Carolina Community Foundation. Organizations must apply using NCCF’s online application system.
- Read the guidelines before you apply. Failure to adhere to the guidelines will result in your application being declined.
- If this is your first time applying, follow the instructions in Training Module I to create a profile. If your organization already has an account use your information to log in.
- Follow the instructions in Training Module II to add a grant application. Once registered, you can access more information about the application process.

The Brunswick County Community Foundation awarded more than $8,000 to the following local nonprofit organizations from its community grantmaking fund and other board-advised funds:
- $1,000 to Brunswick Family Assistance Agency, Inc. (BFA) for general operating support
- $1,000 to Coastal Carolina Outreach for Habitudes: high school social and emotional learning curriculum
- $1,000 to Diaper Bank of NC to meet diaper need for low-income families in Brunswick County
- $1,000 to Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Triangle for Brunswick County Care Fund
- $1,000 to South Brunswick Interchurch Council to support increase in clients served
- $1,000 to Special Olympics North Carolina for Special Olympics Brunswick County
- $1,400 to WAVES 4 K.I.D.S. to help children in crisis
- $1,000 to the YMCA of Southeastern North Carolina, Inc. for scholarships for YMCA afterschool programs

The Brunswick County Community Foundation awarded nearly $8,000 to the following local nonprofit organizations from its community grantmaking fund and other board-advised funds:
- $1,000 to A Safe Place (The Centre of Redemption) for sexual assault prevention and education for minors
- $1,950 to Brunswick Baptist Association to build ramps for people with disabilities
- $1,000 to Brunswick County Literacy Council for Lifting Lives With Literacy
- $1,000 to Brunswick Family Assistance Agency, Inc.
- $1,000 to Lower Cape Fear LifeCare for Memory Partners Savvy Caregiver Program
- $1,000 to Step Up Wilmington for employment and upskilling initiatives for low-income Brunswick families
- $1,000 to The Carousel Center for helping Brunswick children heal from abuse

The Brunswick County Community Foundation awarded more than $7,240 from its community grantmaking fund and the U.S. Open King Mackerel Tournament Fund. From both funds, the board granted:

- $1,500 to Brunswick Partnership for Housing, Inc. for transitional housing
- $1,000 to Brunswick Search and Rescue for Happy Tails To You
- $1,000 to Coastal Bringing Up Down Syndrome of Southeastern NC for general mission support
- $740 to Diaper Bank of NC for Distributing Dignity: Meeting Diaper Need in Brunswick County
- $1,000 to Samara’s Village for general operating support
- $1,000 to The Carousel Center for Helping Brunswick Kids Heal from Abuse

- $1280 to Southport Oak Island Interfaith Fellowship for Helping to Feed Our Most Needy Clients
- $1000 to The Carousel Center for Help Children Heal from Abuse and Trauma
- $1100 to WAVES 4 K.I.D.S. for operational support
- $1000 to WARM ( Wilmington Area Rebuilding Ministry) for Beep Where You Sleep to protect low income children and elders from preventable fire deaths.
2020 grants awarded
Through its community grants program, the Brunswick County Community Foundation awarded $6,000 to the following local nonprofit organizations:
- $1,000 to the Autism Society of North Carolina for resource specialists in Brunswick County
- $500 to the Brunswick County Literacy Council, Inc. for the Literacy For All program
- $1,000 to the Coastal Horizons Center, Inc. for general operating support
- $1,000 to Four Wheels and 1 Home for the CARS4theCounty.org program
- $1,000 to Lower Cape Fear Hospice, Inc. for dementia care
- $1,000 to The Carousel Center for general operating support
- $500 to WAVES 4 K.I.D.S. for operational accounting support
2019 grants awarded
Hurricane Florence disaster recovery grants to be awarded:
- $12,000 to Brunswick Baptist Association to fund building materials and vendor services in the repair of homes damaged by Hurricane Florence in Brunswick County
- $7,000 to Brunswick Family Assistance Agency, Inc. (BFA) for long term recovery of repairing homes, supporting rapid rehousing for victims of Hurricane Florence in Brunswick County
- $7,250 to Brunswick Senior Resources, Inc. to provide funds for life alert systems for older adults and those with mobility impairments who were without a source of communication during Hurricane Florence in Brunswick County
- $6,000 to Matthew’s Ministry to purchase food for children whose families were negatively impacted by Hurricane Florence in Brunswick County
- $12,000 to Trinity United Methodist Church to purchase washers and dryers for those impacted by Hurricane Florence in Brunswick County
- $12,000 to Wilmington Area Rebuilding Ministry, Inc. for rebuilding or repairing homes, and for providing appliances for those impacted by Hurricane Florence in Brunswick County
Through its community grants program, the Brunswick County Community Foundation awarded more than $5,000 to the following local nonprofit organizations:
- $740 to the Roosevelt and Ruth Marlow Educational & Recreational Foundation for Youth Ready
- $1,000 to the Carousel Center for general support in the Brunswick office
- $1,000 to the Brunswick Community College Foundation for the “Learning to Read” Leadership Conference for middle school boys in Brunswick County
- $1,000 to Smart Start of Brunswick County for “Hey Baby. It’s Books!”
- $500 to Brunswick County Literacy Council, Inc. for Literacy for All
- $1,000 to the Community Counseling Center for Expanding Accessibility of Mental Health Care in Brunswick County
