NC Healing Communities Fund listening sessions

NCCF recently announced the creation of the NC Healing Communities Fund to respond to nonprofit needs across the state stemming from the COVID-19 pandemic.

We have all observed the devastating impacts of COVID-19 in North Carolina, with some communities more disproportionately than others. We want to support nonprofit organizations that have suffered due to increased demand and loss of revenue by building long-term solutions informed by those who have been most directly impacted.

More specifically, the NC Healing Communities Fund focuses on supporting nonprofit organizations in marginalized communities that have been disproportionately affected by the virus and its economic impacts and have been underserved by other sources of financial assistance – specifically communities of lower wealth, communities of color, mostly rural communities and where English may not be the primary language. You can read more about it here.

While we continue to build the Fund, we felt it was necessary to pause and hear from our community members prior to developing and implementing any formal processes to ensure an opportunity for more voices to be included and considered before any decision making has occurred.

We are particularly interested in hearing from members of the communities that are prioritized by the Fund, as described above.

We hope to hear what concerns you, what your organization's greatest needs are and what would be most helpful in sustaining and strengthening your ability to serve your community. What might we not be thinking about that warrants further consideration?

We'll be hosting virtual listening sessions with our nonprofit and grantee partners on the following dates:

  • August 25: 3:30 – 4:30 p.m.
  • August 27: 12:00 – 1:00 p.m.
  • September 1: 1:30 – 2:30 p.m.

As with all virtual gatherings, the number of participants is limited. Please submit your registration today to secure your spot. Register by Aug. 20.
