The Avery Community Foundation has awarded more than $3,600 through its community grants program to local nonprofit organizations, including:

  • $1,620 to First Things Foundation for Capacity Building: A New Opportunity to Create Momentum for Low-Income Women in Western North Carolina
  • $1,000 to Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Western North Carolina for the Igniting Youth Potential, Avery County program
  • $1,000 to Mountain Alliance for the Avery Teen Leadership Development and After-school Support program.

The Avery Community Foundation has awarded more than $3,800 through its community grants program to local nonprofit organizations, including:

  • $1,240 to the Blue Ridge Partnership for Children for the Play & Learn program
  • $840 to the North Carolina Symphony for digital music education programs for Avery County students
  • $640 to Prevent Blindness North Carolina for the Star Pupils Avery County program
  • $860 to WAMY Community Action, Inc. for the Avery County Community Garden
