Moore Women – A Giving Circle awards more than $19,000 in local grants

The members of Moore Women – A Giving Circle announce $19,300 in local grant awards.

This year’s nonprofit recipients are:

  • Prancing Horse, Inc. for equine assisted activities and therapy for children 3-11 years old
  • Moore County Literacy Council for the MOTHEREAD program
  • Boys & Girls Club of the Sandhills for helping our teenage girls become successful young women
  • Friend to Friend for helping victims of interpersonal violence access holistic health
  • Girl Scouts – North Carolina Coastal Pines for Moore County community outreach program
  • Moore Buddies Mentoring for the Moore Family Connections program
  • Northern Moore Family Resource Center for the HOPE (Harness Opportunity – Promoting Education) Academy preschool program
  • Sandhills Children’s Center for therapy equipment lending library
  • Special Olympics North Carolina for Special Olympics Moore County

“These grants are important to our community and our quality of life,” said Susie Buchanan Smith, leadership chair, thanking the members. “Critical programs would not be possible without the generosity of the members of Moore Women.”

Moore Women was founded on the premise that together we can make more impactful giving. “I was donating $100 here and $100 there and not feeling like my gifts were making a difference to the charities that I care about,” said Smith, a co-founder of the Giving Circle. “But my contribution of $600, paired with all other members in our giving circle makes a huge impact in the community.”
