2024 John Anthony Little Memorial Scholarship awarded to Bryson Gresham
J.F. Webb High School student Bryson Gresham was awarded the 2024 John Anthony Little Memorial Scholarship. He is the 14th recipient of this scholarship, which is administered by the North Carolina Community Foundation, and this year awarded $5,000.
A recognized leader in school organizations, Gresham was a National Honor Society and Mu Alpha Theta Honor member, a 2023 Student of Merit and a 2023 Heisman High School Scholarship Winner. He participated in every sport offered by the Granville County public school system, playing varsity baseball, soccer and wrestling in high school, and football in middle school.
Gresham will attend East Carolina University this fall and plans to major in pre-law. His goal is to become a lawyer and give back to the community. He wrote in his application that he wants to be a resource for people and be involved in helping the community grow. Gresham also plans to help the community keep high school athletics alive.
The John Anthony Little Memorial Scholarship was established in 2010 by his mother Paige Little and Jim Cross, an attorney with Royster, Cross and Hensley. Since then, the scholarship has awarded more than $65,000 to J.F. Webb High School students. Recipients must demonstrate a sense of moral obligation to contribute to the world around them and intend to pursue a degree from an accredited college or university. In June, scholarship co-founder and chair Paige Little hosted Gresham, his family, and past scholarship recipients at a luncheon in Oxford, NC, to talk about college and share tips and advice. She said the scholarship keeps her son John’s memory alive by supporting students who plan to give back to society.
