The board of advisors of the Carteret Community Foundation is accepting grant applications from nonprofits serving needs in the local community.
Funds are available for nonprofit organizations serving the local community in Carteret County and will be awarded from the following funds: Grants typically range from $500 - $9000.
Carteret County Community Unrestricted Fund
J.O. & Ruth Barbour Memorial Fund for Elementary Education, to support elementary school instruction, acquisition of classroom equipment, compensation for teachers, and capital improvements to elementary school facilities.
J.O. & Ruth Barbour Memorial Fund for Wildlife Habitat to support conservation projects which contribute to the preservation, maintenance, or reestablishment of woodland and other natural habitats for wildlife with special emphasis on birdlife.
Pearl’s Pantry Fund for support of humanitarian needs of with primary emphasis on aiding with food and prescription medicines needs.
Applications are available beginning July 23rd, 2021. Visit nccommunityfoundation.org for information about applying. The deadline for applications is August 24th, 2021, at noon.
Grants are not available for regranting purposes, capital campaigns, capital improvements, out-of-state travel, or for individuals. Funds are awarded by the board of advisors of the Carteret Community Foundation, an affiliate of the North Carolina Community Foundation.

The Carteret Community Foundation is a growing family of philanthropic funds, source of grants for local causes, and partner for donors. The CCF was founded in 2005 and is led by a local volunteer advisory board that helps build community assets through the creation of permanent endowments, makes grants, and leverages leadership – all for the benefit of Carteret County.
The CCF board advises the Carteret Community Fund, the unrestricted community grantmaking fund, to support local needs. The competitive grants program is held annually. Advisory board members live and work in Carteret County, positioning them to strategically leverage resources, meet local needs, and access opportunities. In addition to Harvell, board members include: Ginger Parker (vice president), Michelle Gregory (secretary), Chuck Jordan(treasurer), Sammy Brooks, Peg Burns, Ray Harris, Beth Henry, Corey Lewis, Richard McIntyre, Ryan Morris, Terry Robertson, Wayne Schriever, Rhonda Scibal and Jan Sutton.
The Carteret Community Foundation, through the NCCF, makes it easy to become a philanthropist, whatever your means or charitable goals. You can open an endowment for your favorite cause at any time – or contribute to an existing fund in any amount. Tax-deductible contributions, made payable to the Carteret Community Foundation, can be mailed to the North Carolina Community Foundation, 3737 Glenwood Ave. Suite 460, Raleigh, NC 27612.
