NCCF cuts a big swath across this great state, so getting representatives from our affiliate boards together for regional meetings can be a challenge. It’s not just logistics; it’s also geography, with 60 boards serving 67 counties literally stretching from Murphy to Manteo.
Our volunteer leaders always come through, however, as they prove again and again. Last week’s Affiliate Forum in Hickory for the West and Northwest areas and this week’s Forum in Wilson for the Northern Piedmont, Sandhills, Coastal Plain North and South, Northeastern and Southeastern regions clearly indicated that our board members are engaged and passionate about their work leading their local community foundations. Many drove long distances to talk about their affiliates and how to position the local foundations for continued success now and in the future.
The meetings were held as part of the NCCF Affiliate Impact Committee’s work to help each local board identify their focus areas based on their unique strengths and needs. The plan is for each affiliate to then create their own “blueprints for success,” with annual goals as the outcome. Affiliates will begin implementing their own tailored plans in 2015. More to come on this work soon. Materials for affiliate board members are now posted here via protected access on our website.
We would like to thank all of the affiliate advisory board members who took the time to participate in the Forums and NCCF's statewide Board Chair Stuart Dorsett, who helped to emcee the Wilson gathering. We also appreciate Steve Alley with Ekstrom and Associates, who spoke at both of our Forums, and the following keynote speakers and panelists:
