About Lynwood Allen Robinson
Bebra Robinson established the Lynwood Allen Robinson Memorial Scholarship in memory of her beloved husband, Lynwood Allen Robinson. Robinson, a Desert Storm veteran, passed away on January 13, 2015, at the age of 58 from Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS).
Robinson was a member and deacon of Smith Chapel Freewill Baptist Church in Mount Olive and Northwest B Conference Trustee. He was a spiritually-minded man who took God’s call seriously.
He faithfully stewarded his possessions, was a pastor’s friend and a people person. If he saw someone in need, he would help.
He knew how to get along with people, turn things around for the positive, and make people laugh. He could strike up a conversation with a stranger as if he had always known them and children loved him.
Robinson was employed by Duke Progress Energy Company for over 29 years and served for 20 years as a member of the U.S. Army National Guard before retiring. Although, the link between military service and ALS is not fully understood, he was one of the many veterans diagnosed with ALS completing a tour of duty in Saudi Arabia as part of Desert Storm.
Robinson was about his family, church, children and the United Freewill Baptist Church. In honor of Robinson’s humility, the Lynwood Allen Robinson Memorial Scholarship keeps giving back to what he loved, leaving a legacy of helping all others above himself.
