Alexis Smith is a graduate of Cherokee Central High School and attends the University of South Carolina.
Smith played varsity basketball in high school and helped her team win their conference championship during the 2022-23 season. She also participated on the Cherokee Youth Council and received several Tribal Council awards.
A recipient of the Bill Taylor Scholarship Endowment, Smith intends to study business management and aspires to become an entrepreneur.
“The biggest thing that motivates me is seeing how hard my parents work for me and my brothers. It makes me want to work just as hard because they are such good people and it’s amazing to see how their hard work pays off. I want to be able to help them and take care of them the way they have taken such good care of me.”
