Harnett County Community Foundation awards $9,000 in grants

The Harnett County Community Foundation has awarded $9,000 in grants to organizations supporting the local community.

The board of advisors granted:

  • $500 to Campbell University for the Community Collaborative Support Center within Dunn Elementary School
  • $500 to Diaper Bank of NC for Distributing Dignity: meeting diaper need in Harnett County
  • $500 to Dunn Police Athletic & Activities League, Inc. for the career readiness initiative
  • $2,500 to Dunn United Ministerial Association for Harnett County war against hunger
  • $2,000 to SAFE of Harnett County for general operating support
  • $1,000 to Special Olympics North Carolina for Special Olympics North Carolina – Harnett County
  • $2,000 to Western Harnett Lions Club for vision screening

Funds for the grants came from HCCF’s community grantmaking fund.

“This support shows our commitment to these organizations,” said Patricia Harmon-Lewis, advisory board president of the Harnett County Community Foundation. “We’re pleased to provide these financial resources.”

HCCF is an affiliate of the North Carolina Community Foundation and is led by a local volunteer advisory board. Each year, HCCF uses dollars from its endowment fund to make grants to nonprofits that help the local community.
