Post a selfie video to your Instagram or Facebook as a story during the month of November.
Use these tips and the sample script below:
- Find a quiet location with good lighting and a background that is free from too many distractions.
- Wear something you are comfortable in.
- If you’re filming yourself, use the front-facing camera so you can see yourself! Hold your phone vertically, and keep it at eye level or slightly higher, about an arm’s length away from your face (with a slight bend in your elbows).
- Look directly at the phone
- If someone else is filming you, the phone should still be vertical and be sure they hold it very still, without covering the microphone or camera with their fingers.
- Be yourself and keep it short! Use the suggested script below or portions of it.
- Tag NCCF in the post on your story. (Facebook – @nccommunityfoundation; Instagram – @nccommunityfoundation; LinkedIn – @North Carolina Community Foundation)

When cultivating new prospective donors, don’t make the ask the only time you connect with them. Try for at least one to two touchpoints before asking them to give in November. Touchpoint idea include:
- invite them to affiliate event such as grant reception or philanthropy celebration
- invite them to join you on a visit to a previous grantee or to participate in a service project
- share the press release announcing your grant awards
- share your annual community needs assessment
NCCF provides blank thank you cards after the campaign concludes for boards to write personal thank you notes to donors. When gifts are made, NCCF also sends an acknowledgement.
