Grant Publicity Guide

We appreciate your help in getting the word out about grants your organization receives from NCCF funds and/or affiliate foundations. Not only does it let the community know about your organization’s great work, but it can also encourage more giving.

While NCCF publicizes and announces many grant awards, your organization may want to go into more detail about your funded programs. The public is interested in hearing directly from the nonprofit because you are the most knowledgeable about your programs and results.

We ask that you cite the fund name and/or affiliate foundation in publicizing and acknowledging your grant and note that funds are administered by the North Carolina Community Foundation. Please acknowledge the source of your grant in all publicity, exhibits, news releases, website, email, social media, other digital communications and publications.

Publicity guidelines

  • Contact the local news media. Write or send a press release about the grant your organization received and how the grant will be used. Include community newspapers, online outlets, special interest publications and local TV and radio stations. Follow up with a personal phone call.
  • Include news of your grant in any materials your organization distributes. This includes newsletters, brochures, annual reports, board minutes, lists of supporters, website and social media.
  • Link directly to NCCF's website and/or the appropriate affiliate foundation page in your digital communication. You can find links to our affiliate foundation pages at nccommunityfoundation.org/communities.
  • Tag NCCF in your social media posts. (Be sure to follow us too for updates on grant application cycles!)
  • Include the name of the fund your grant came from. If your grant is from a local affiliate foundation, the affiliate’s name should be included in all communications channels.
  • Include logos. Your logo and NCCF’s logo are a great visual representation of our partnership. You may download a copy of NCCF's logo for use in your promotional materials. If you need the logo of your affiliate community foundation or a different file type, contact the community leadership officer serving your area.
  • Events. Your organization may want to hold an event to celebrate receiving a grant. We encourage you to invite representatives from the affiliate foundation or fund to attend and be a part of the event.

Grant acknowledgment

Use one of the following language suggestions to acknowledge your grant from a fund and/or affiliate foundation:

  • This grant was made possible by the NAME OF FUND of the NAME OF AFFILIATE COMMUNITY FOUNDATION, an affiliate of the North Carolina Community Foundation.
  • This program was funded (or funded in part) by a grant from the NAME OF FUND, which is administered by the North Carolina Community Foundation.

Photos, videos and stories

We would also like the opportunity to share the good news about your grant!

Pictures and videos are one of the most effective ways for people to see the work your organization does. Please provide NCCF with any pictures, videos or other content and stories from your program along with a signed release form from the people in the photos, either your organization’s releases for or you can download and use NCCF’s photo/video permission form. This is essential for minors.

NCCF may promote your program through our publications, on our website, in videos or through our social media. Please send photos, videos and stories to the program officer for your region along with signed photo/video release forms.
