Her many accomplishments included athletics (basketball, volleyball, track); academics (high honors and National Honor Society); and 12 years of perfect attendance for Sunday school at Boonville Baptist Church.<\/p>\r\n<p><br \/>Meme received volleyball and academic scholarships to attend Lees-McRae College. She then transferred to Appalachian State University to study nursing when she was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. Her father, David Brown, describes her as optimistic, sparkling, strong and positive even when faced with fighting cancer.
