The Women’s Fund of North Carolina announces more than $15,000 in statewide grants

The North Carolina Community Foundation is pleased to announce the 2017 grant recipients from the statewide Women’s Fund of North Carolina. The total awarded to eight organizations was $15,500.

Receiving grants are:

$1,000 to Benevolence Farm for the Benevolence Re-entry Leadership Development Program
$2,500 to Chowan/Perquimans Smart Start Partnership for Reach Out and Read
$2,000 to Families Living Violence Free for the FLVF Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault program
$2,000 to Kearah's Place Inc. for The Kearah’s Place Housing & Resource Center for Women
$3,000 to TROSA (Triangle Residential Options for Substance Abusers) for residential substance abuse recovery services for women
$1,000 to United Community Ministries for United Community Ministries -- House the Children (childcare support)
$2,000 to Wheels4Hope for preparing cars for NC families
$2,000 to the YWCA of the Lower Cape Fear for the New Choices Professional Development Program

“Each of these organizations helps to meet crucial needs for women and children in our state,” said Jennifer Tolle Whiteside, NCCF president and CEO. NCCF’s statewide Women’s Fund typically focuses on programming that supports women and/or children, with emphasis on women’s health and leadership issues. Programs must serve areas within NCCF’s service area.

The selection committee is comprised of representatives from most of NCCF’s local women’s giving programs from across the state. NCCF’s eight regionally based women’s giving programs include the Women’s Giving Network of Wake County; the Bertie-Hertford Women’s Fund; the Women Givers of Northeast North Carolina, which serves Camden, Gates, Pasquotank and Perquimans counties; the Currituck-Dare Woman’s Fund; the Women Givers of Nash-Rocky Mount; the Art of Giving, a collective of Triangle women sponsored in conjunction with the Triangle Community Foundation; the Cary Women's Giving Network; and Moore Women, A Giving Circle.
