Craven County Community Foundation awards more than $177,000 in local grants

The board of advisors of the Craven County Community Foundation recently announced $177,020 in local grant awards from the community grantmaking fund and local component funds: the Richard Chapman Cleve Fund, Nelson Family Memorial Endowment Fund, Harry and Virginia Killian Charitable Endowment and Brian Fisher Endowment, at a grant awards ceremony hosted at Tryon Palace.

This year the board granted:

  • $1,000 to the Autism Society of North Carolina for 2018 Camp Royall program scholarships
  • $5,000 to Backpack Blessings Inc. for the “Holiday Blessings” program
  • $15,000 to the Boys and Girls Clubs of the Coastal Plain for the Formula for Impact program
  • $7,020 to the Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Raleigh for the Senior Pharmacy Program
  • $1,000 to the Craven Arts Council for the Technology Quest program
  • $5,000 to the Craven Community College Foundation for the Work Ready Scholarship program
  • $2,000 to Craven Concerts Inc. for the Bring the Magic of Live Music to School Children outreach program
  • $7,500 to Craven County Partners in Education for the “Say It Loud!”-A 21st Century Auditorium program
  • $12,000 to Craven County Partners in Education for the Graphing Calculators for HHS- Hand Held Technology program
  • $10,000 to the Craven Literacy Council for the Using Literacy to Better a Person’s Life program
  • $12,000 to the Eastern Carolina YMCA for the 2018 Twin Rivers YMCA Summer Camp need-based scholarship program
  • $15,000 to MERCI Clinic Inc. for the primary care program
  • $2,000 to the Neuromuscular Disease Support Organization for the 2nd Annual NMDSO Education and Outreach Summit
  • $2,000 to the Neuse Pamlico Sound Women’s Coalition for the Camp Hope Project
  • $2,000 to the New Bern Civic Theatre for the Athens Renaissance: Accessibility for All Patrons of the Theatre program
  • $3,000 to New Bern Police Department Citizen Volunteers Inc. for the New Bern Police Department 2018 Youth Outreach program
  • $7,500 to the North Carolina Coastal Land Trust for the Neuse River Initiative
  • $3,000 to the North Carolina Symphony Inc. for the Ensembles in the Schools for Craven County Elementary Students program
  • $3,000 to Prevent Blindness North Carolina for the Star Pupils Craven County program
  • $10,000 to Promise Place for the Trauma Focused Therapy Mental Health program

  • $10,000 to Public Media NC (UNC-TV) for the sponsorship of the PMNC Cares Summit
