Eastern Band of Cherokees Community Foundation awards nearly $4,500 in grants

The Eastern Band of Cherokees Community Foundation has awarded $4,440 in grants to organizations supporting the local community.

The board of advisors granted:

  • $2,220 to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Western North Carolina for Cherokee Central Schools high school “Bigs” program
  • $2,220 to Rolling Start NC, Inc. for vehicles for people in need

Funds for the grants came from EBCCF’s community grantmaking fund.

“These funds are an investment in our collective future,” said Anna Ferguson, advisory board president of the Eastern Band of Cherokees Community Foundation. “By working together, we help each other.”

EBCCF is an affiliate of the North Carolina Community Foundation and is led by a local volunteer advisory board. Each year, EBCCF uses dollars from its endowment fund to make grants to nonprofits that help the local community.
