Hoke County Community Foundation awards nearly $20,000 in grants
The Hoke County Community Foundation has awarded $19,750 in grants to organizations supporting the local community.
The board of advisors granted:
- $2,000 to American Red Cross Sandhills Region for disaster services
- $1,500 to Autism Society of North Carolina for autism resource specialists in Hoke County
- $3,000 to Children’s Cancer Partners of the Carolinas for Hoke County Childhood Cancer Safety Net
- $2,900 to Don Steed Elementary School for Can You Hear Me Now? Helping Hoke County Performers Sound Their Best!
- $1,350 to Habitat for Humanity of the NC Sandhills, Inc., for Habitat for Humanity Hoke County Aging in Place Program
- $1,000 to Lumber River United Way, Inc., for On the Spot—feminine hygiene kits for Hoke County
- $500 to Made4Me, Inc., for Making Abilities Possible project
- $500 to Maggie’s Outreach for Beautification of Hoke County (BHC)
- $2,000 to North Carolina Cooperative Extension, Hoke County 4-H for 2023 Hoke County 4-H Summer Enrichment Program
- $500 to North Carolina Symphony for music discovery for Hoke County preschoolers
- $1,000 to Prevent Blindness North Carolina for Star Pupils Hoke County
- $1,000 to Raeford United Methodist Church for Holiday Helpers
- $1,000 to Ronald McDonald House of Chapel Hill for Hoke County Cares Fund
- $500 to Sandhills Machine, Inc., for AAU World Championship
- $500 to The First Tee Chapter of the Sandhills for Hoke County Schools Program Advancement, Part 2
- $500 to Winford Ministries for Pack Out Hoke County
Funds for the grants came from HCCF’s community grantmaking fund and the Mary Archie McNeill Endowment Fund.
“These nonprofits add so much to our community,” said William Wright, advisory board president of the Hoke County Community Foundation. “We’re happy to give them the support they deserve.”
HCCF is an affiliate of the North Carolina Community Foundation and is led by a local volunteer advisory board. Each year, HCCF uses dollars from its endowment fund to make grants to nonprofits that help the local community.

Hoke County Community Foundation Advisory Board Members
Advisory board members live and work in Hoke County, positioning them to strategically leverage resources, meet local needs and access opportunities.
