Jackson County Community Foundation announces more than $51,000 in grants
The Jackson County Community Foundation, in partnership with the Balsam Mountain Preserve Fund for Jackson County, has awarded $51,400 in grants to organizations supporting the local community.
JCCF awarded $14,600 from its community grantmaking fund. The board of advisors granted:
- $900 The Bascom for expansion of their senior ceramics program
- $1,000 to Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Cashiers and Highlands for general operating support
- $1,200 to Boys & Girls Club of the Plateau for tutoring for literacy
- $3,000 to Christmas Connection of Jackson County for Christmas Connection of Jackson County
- $1,000 to Cornbread & Roses Community Counseling for the Jackson County food box delivery program
- $2,500 to Full Spectrum Farms for an Autism Art Program
- $1,500 to International Friendship Center for the Highlands Food Pantry
- $1,000 to Prevent Blindness North Carolina for Star Pupils Jackson County
- $1,000 Special Olympics North Carolina for Special Olympics Jackson County
- $1,500 to Uncomplicated Kitchen for Cooking for Life
Additionally, the Balsam Mountain Preserve Fund for Jackson County awarded $36,800 in grants. The fund granted:
- $3,000 to A.W.A.K.E., Inc., to support Collaborating for our Children
- $3,000 to Center for Domestic Peace to support Interpersonal Violence Intervention and Outreach Services Operating Expense
- $2,500 to Children’s Cancer Partners of the Carolinas to support Jackson County Childhood Cancer Safety Net
- $4000 to Circles of Jackson County to support a full-time client services coordinator
- $2,500 to HERE in Jackson County, Inc., for client support
- $2,500 to HIGHTS to support Healthy Food for Compass Program
- $2,800 to Macon County Public Health to support expanding Double Up Food Bucks and healthy food access in Jackson County
- $3,000 to Pisgah Legal Services to support Plateau Poverty Law Initiative
- $3,000 to the Community Table for general operating support
- $3,000 to United Christian Ministries of Jackson County to support Nourishing Our Community: Jackson County’s Food Pantry
- $3,000 to Vecinos, Inc., Farmworker Health Program to support a medical-dental partnership
- $1,500 to the North Carolina Symphony to support Ensembles in the Schools for Jackson County Students
- $3,000 to Baptist’s Children’s Home of North Carolina, to support Homebase

JCCF is an affiliate of the North Carolina Community Foundation and is led by a local volunteer advisory board. Each year, JCCF uses dollars from its endowment fund to make grants to nonprofits that help the local community.
