Northern Albemarle Community Foundation awards more than $27,000 in grants
The Northern Albemarle Community Foundation has awarded $27,790 in grants to organizations supporting the local community.
The board of advisors granted:
- $4,000 to Albemarle Area United Way for Community Care Collaborative
- $5,000 to Albemarle Commission Senior Nutrition Program for Northern Albemarle Meals on Wheels
- $5,000 to Boys & Girls Club of the Albemarle for Boys & Girls Clubs Dinner Partners
- $3,000 to Elizabeth City Habitat for Humanity for a home repair program
- $1,000 to Make-A-Wish Eastern North Carolina for improving health outcomes for children with critical illnesses in Camden, Gates, Pasquotank and Perquimans counties
- $2,500 to Perquimans County Schools Education Foundation for Academy for Girls
- $1,650 to Ronald McDonald House of Eastern NC for general operating expenses for funding families of Northern Albemarle counties
- $1,140 Sayer’s Creek Baptist Church for SCBC Brotherhood Community Outreach
- $1,500 The Open Door of Perquimans County, Inc., for Bagley’s Meal Program
- $3,000 The Salvation Army of Elizabeth City for emergency social services
Funds for the grants came from NACF’s community grantmaking fund, the Judge Thomas Watts Memorial Endowment, and Winifred Jones Wood Endowment.
“The community’s generosity enables us to support these great organizations,” said Rebecca Elliott, advisory board president of the Northern Albemarle Community Foundation. “These groups, in turn, help strengthen our community.”
NACF is an affiliate of the North Carolina Community Foundation and is led by a local volunteer advisory board. Each year, NACF uses dollars from its endowment funds to make grants to nonprofits that help the local community.

Northern Albemarle Community Foundation Advisory Board Members
Advisory board members live and work in Camden, Gates, Pasquotank and Perquimans counties, positioning them to strategically leverage resources, meet local needs and access opportunities.
