{"title":"Rockingham County Community Foundation announces another $250,000 of grants from the Duke Energy Dan River Basin Grants Program","content":"<p>The board of advisors of the Rockingham County Community Foundation announces another $250,000 of grants from the Dan River Basin Program funded by the Duke Energy Foundation.<\/p>\r\n<p>Grant funds are available for nonprofit organizations in the Dan River area. Applications are available beginning Aug. 1. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nccommunityfoundation.org\/rockingham\/rockingham-county-community-foundation-grant-program-for-dan-river\">Visit this page for information about applying<\/a>. The deadline for submitting applications is noon Aug. 31.<\/p>\r\n<p>Organizations eligible to apply are local 501c3 nonprofits and local government entities, including municipalities and schools. All programs must serve the Dan River area. Grant requests for up to $25,000 will be accepted in two categories:<\/p>\r\n<ol>\r\n<li>Economic development enhancing community beautification and maintenance with a measurable impact on increasing tourism, business and population growth in Rockingham County; and<\/li>\r\n<li>Environmental education supporting projects that have a visible impact on the local community, such as outdoor classrooms or environmental signage along trails, walkways along or near the river.
