Yadkin County Community Foundation awards more than $19,000 in grants
The Yadkin County Community Foundation has awarded $19,580 in grants to organizations supporting the local community.
The board of advisors granted:
- $1,000 to Children’s Center of Surry, Inc., for a truancy intervention program. Given in honor of Pauline “Polly” Hudspeth Wood and Dr. William L. Wood, Sr.
- $2,000 to Courtney Elementary School for the ceramics department
- $1,500 to Diaper Bank of NC for Distributing Dignity to meet diaper needs in Yadkin County
- $1,000 to ECHO Ministry, Inc., for transportation for women and families experiencing homelessness
- $500 to Forbush High School for the humanitarian award.
- $1,250 to Hands of Hope Medical Clinic for vision assistance
- $2,830 to Magnify Ministries, Inc., for Impact Yadkin
- $1,500 to Make-A-Wish Central and Western North Carolina for Fund-A-Wish in Yadkin County
- $2,000 to New Horizons Home Care for general operating support
- $750 to North Carolina Symphony for a virtual interactive stage for Yadkin County students
- $750 to Prevent Blindness North Carolina for Star Pupils Yadkin County
- $1,000 to Starmount Middle School for an outdoor classroom
- $1,500 to Yadkin Arts Council for Cinema Spectacular 2023-2024
- $1,000 to Yadkin County Swim Stingrays for pool disco lanes
- $1,000 to Yadkinville Elementary/Yadkin County Schools to help send students to the National Invention Convention
Funds for the grants came from YCCF’s community grantmaking fund.
“We are happy to support these charitable initiatives that are so important to our community,” said Tom Fagerli, advisory board president of the Yadkin County Community Foundation. “We are appreciative of those who have helped us in our efforts to encourage philanthropy in our county.”
YCCF is an affiliate of the North Carolina Community Foundation and is led by a local volunteer advisory board. Each year, YCCF uses dollars from its endowment fund to make grants to nonprofits that help the local community.
