NCCF is in the thick of affiliate foundation community grantmaking cycles. While some application deadlines have passed, about half of our affiliate grantmaking cycles are still open. So far about $273,000 has been granted across the state through the community grants program. The process continues through the fall.
Both Leslie Ann Jackson, program associate for scholarships and grantmaking, and Patrick Callahan, IT manager, describe the process as cooperative. "We're here to support the applicants and the review committees every step of the way," Jackson said.
While the online application and review system continue to streamline processes, enhancements will be made, said Callahan. “We’re always looking at how we can make the online tools easier to use,” he said.
The NCCF team has received good marks for grantmaking education efforts. Improvements have been made to online training tools and web materials designed for grants committees. Several grant writing workshops have been held by regional associates in affiliate communities throughout the state, with more planned in those areas that have not yet begun their grants processes.
The NCCF awarded nearly $7 million in grants last year, with about $500,000 of that coming from the affiliates’ community grants programs.
