Women for Women of Pitt County awards more than $101,000 in grants to local organizations, hosts celebration honoring recipients
The Women for Women of Pitt County Endowment, a fund of the North Carolina Community Foundation, has awarded $101,800 in grants to 10 programs that improve the lives of women and girls locally.
The endowment granted:
- $12,000 to Building Hope Community Life Center for Women of Worth: A Trauma‑Informed Girls Resiliency & Leadership Initiative
- $5,500 to Cancer Services of Eastern North Carolina for Mission In Motion
- $3,300 to Children’s Cancer Partners of the Carolinas for the Pitt County Childhood Cancer Safety Net
- $5,000 to Great Things Foundation, Inc. for Table Talk: Holistic Wellness Strategies for Adolescent Girls
- $12,000 to Hope of Glory Ministries for the Community Co‑op Program
- $10,000 to House of HUGS for Women and Children for the HUGS Life Enrichment Program – Expansion
- $12,000 to Koinonia Community Solutions for the StrongHER (Strong, Healthy, Empowered, and Resilient) Girls Program
- $12,000 to The Nehemiah Initiative for general operating support
- $15,000 to Operation Sunshine Inc. for funding to increase enrollment
- $15,000 to Pitt County Health Department for Nurse‑Family Partnership client support
“Through the Women for Women of Pitt County Endowment, nonprofits receive critical funding to serve women and girls across our community,” said Kahla Hall, endowment committee chair. “These grants support organizations addressing essential needs, health and well-being, and life skills, helping create meaningful impact.”
Last month, Women for Women of Pitt County and 2026 grantees gathered at Heart for ENC’s Nonprofit Business Center to network and celebrate their collective work. Heart for ENC equips, connects and empowers local nonprofits and faith-based organizations through training, coaching, and other resources offered through the business center.

Founded in 2005, Women for Women of Pitt County Endowment has a deep history of grantmaking and community impact. After making $750,000 in grants to charitable organizations over 15 years, it transitioned to become an endowment at NCCF in 2020, using the community foundation infrastructure to leverage resources and increase capacity in the community for perpetuity. Since partnering with NCCF, the endowment has awarded nearly $600,000 in grants.
In addition to Hall, committee members include Devinder Culver, Dionne Dockery, Karen Harrington and Gray Williams.
